《公民凯恩》不讲一个男人是谁。它讲的是没人真的看见过任何一个男人。我们看见的，永远只是别人转述出来的影子。
Citizen Kane is not about who a man was. It is about how no one ever really sees any one man — only the shadows other people cast of him.
所以它在 1941 年成了第一部用多视角拼图讲一个主角的美国电影。黑泽明 1950 年才拍《罗生门》。Welles 跑在前面整整九年。
Bernard Herrmann 的配乐没能放进这一版 game，因为我的音乐库里凑不齐。所以我索性把这一部留作大部分时间没有 BGM的那一部。该听 Kane 说话的时候，就听他说。
No score for most of this game. When the music isn't there — you have to listen to the man.
Gregg Toland 的深焦把一张画面里的前景、中景、远景都同时拍清楚。在这个引擎里我用滤镜把所有图都套上 grayscale(100%) + contrast(1.15)，让 1941 年那一套黑白灰在现代屏幕上还能跳出来。
Welles 当年拍的是一部电影，每个视角的时长已经切死，观众没法选顺序。我这一版改成四个证人任选顺序。你先听谁，决定你怎么拼出这个男人的影子，也决定你走到第五章「Rosebud」的时候，心里已经知道多少、已经不知道多少。
In the film, the order is fixed. Here it isn't. The order in which you hear them is the order in which the man assembles.
Bernstein 那一段「girl in a white dress with a parasol」我几乎一字没改。那是这部电影里心最软的一段：一个男人留一秒钟的印象，能留四十五年。Bernstein 不知道 Rosebud 是什么，但他知道那是什么滋味。
1941 年的美国，主角一辈子都在给美国人做报纸。中文是玩家听故事的母语，英文是 Kane 自己当年说出口的那几句。这几句任何中文翻译都软，所以引擎中英同屏显示。
Lines kept in English on purpose:
· "I think it would be fun to run a newspaper."
· "You provide the prose poems. I'll provide the war."
· "You talk about the people as though you owned them."
· "What did you ever give me?"
· "Rosebud."
《罗生门》的引擎我已经写过一次。这一次我把它反过来用。
Rashomon 是同一件事，四种描述，每一种都自私。Kane 是一个男人，四段描述，没有一段自私，但也没有一段看全。真相在他们赶到之前就被工人扔进焚化炉烧掉了。
In Rashomon every witness lies for himself. In Kane no one lies — but no one sees the whole man either. The truth was burned in a furnace before they got there.
这是我做的第 17 部电影 galgame。前面 16 部都是我看过 5 遍以上的电影。公民凯恩是第一部我第一遍没看懂的电影。后来越看越觉得，它讲的不是 Kane，是我自己。
This is the seventeenth film I've adapted. The first sixteen were films I'd seen five or more times. Citizen Kane is the first I didn't understand the first time. The more I rewatch, the more I find it watching me back.
每个人都有一个 Rosebud：一件你 8 岁那年莫名从手里滑出去、然后一辈子没真正离开心里的东西。大部分时候，你自己都不知道它是什么。
Everyone has a Rosebud. Something that slipped out of your hand at eight and never quite slipped out of your head. Most of the time you don't even know what it is.
